Why I am Still Here
One year ago, today, I made my first post on this website. I then proceeded to make 72 more posts over the course of the following 12 months. When I started I was just trying to get the first ten up as fast as possible then moved to try to post twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Now I am just doing my best to get one done every weekend, been late a few times now but I have only missed one so I am feeling pretty good about that. So here we are on post number 74 and I am left to question what has changed in these last 365 days.
Well, the biggest change is free time. Since I started writing we have started construction on our house, which you probably know already if you are reading this. Wiring, painting, and insulating have been eating up most of the free time Erin and I have left after work and the kids are done for the day. With flooring and finish work, we are looking to continue that trend for the next few months to come. The house project has been the largest factor in me moving from 2 posts a week to 1.
The second-largest change is probably the fact that Dad and I sold our business. I am honestly still kind of in shock over that one. Selling the business threw a pretty big curve into the life plans. I have not written about that one here yet, as I wanted to have enough time with the new company that I could have a well-founded opinion of the change before writing about it. I will write about that soon though.
My goals for this website have also changed significantly in the last year. As in, I don't currently have any goals for the website outside of getting my weekly post up. I originally created this website as a means of gaining exposure. I was (and still am) hoping to get a children's book published but have since realized that this website may not be the right way to go about doing that. I guess my goal, for the time being, is to find a new goal (future post warning).
That being said I still intend to keeping writing here every week. Writing these posts helps me relax at the end of the week. Also, I feel like, thinking about what I can write about all week makes me more observant of what is going on in the world around me.
For those few people that read my rambling, thank you for your time and I look forward to another year of "wasting" small amounts of it each week. I promise to do my best to try and make you laugh or smile every once in a while. Who knows, maybe next year I will have a few more regular readers who let me spend their time. I will be working at it at the very least.
So here we go, my URL has been paid up for the year, I have topics in mind, and no one to stop me. Another year will fly by, I am sure, but in the meantime, I will be writing as much as I can. Another post will be coming next week so until then I hope this last year has found you in good health and of a sound mind. I am THE confused father and I am here wondering ...
What does the next year have in store for me?
